Drain misuse & damage
Drains block for a wide variety of reasons, however the sources can be broadly categorised into misuse, lack of maintenance and pipe damage.
Typical misuse sources will be materials and items that should have been bagged / binned. Lack of maintenance can lead to long term build ups of silt, or fats and grease, though a properly designed and installed system should be self-cleaning. Common sources of pipe damage are tree roots and heavy loads such as delivery lorries.
Whatever the source there is a solution, but this must be selected in the context of the building's use. For example, it would not be appropriate to run high pressure jetting hose through a busy hospital or in a school during term time, so we would most likely use a mechanical boring device to clear a blockage.
